Underlying skill and spirit the Olympic sailing medallists have put into their successful Tokyo 2020 campaigns is the raw, GPS tracking data from the 11 days of racing at the Olympic regatta in Enoshima.
What secrets might this data reveal about how the medals were won and lost?
From Tokyo, sailing journalist Andy Rice will be running a Live Q&A call on Zoom this Wednesday, 4 August, at 2100 hours Tokyo time (1400 hours Friday afternoon, Central European Time, 0800 on the US East Coast) when two-time 49er Olympian and European Champion Marcus Baur will be sharing what he learned when he dug deep into the data from Tokyo 2020.
Marcus will talk us through a race and show us what we can learn both in terms of tactics and boat speed from the GPS tracking data.
The pair will also be looking at the lessons learned from Tokyo, and what we can take from the Games and how to apply to our own sailboat racing campaigns.
Here’s how to get on the call. It’s free to join:
There you’ll find the Zoom Meeting details and you can sign up. Numbers are limited though, so get there early.
