Bio: Described by Charles Caudrelier – his skipper on Dongfeng Race Team in the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race – as “a proven offshore warrior” Daryl Wislang is one of the world’s most well-respected and liked ocean racers.
Now with two Volvo Ocean Race victories to his name (2014-15 with Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, and in 2017-18 with Dongfeng Race Team) Wislang first started sailing at the age of 10 in his home town of Nelson aboard a Sunburst dinghy with his father and brother.
Having clocked up a remarkable scoreline of a third, a second, and two firsts in the last four editions of the Volvo Ocean Race Wislang is very much in demand and features regularly in the line ups of the top grand prix international campaigns.
In 2015 he was part of the crew aboard the 100-foot American monohull Comanche which set the current 24-hour monohull distance record of 618.01 nautical miles at an average speed of 25.75 knots.
