Who said the foiling technology developed for the recent editions of the America’s Cup wouldn’t ever trickle down to the lower echelons of our sport?
The Mark Mills-designed, King Marine-built Flying Nikka has been turning heads this week at the Maxi Worlds in Porto Cervo where the 60-foot foiler raced in a dedicated Mini Maxi 0 category.
Her owner Roberto Lacorte commented after the first day: “A great and an important day and one we’d been awaiting for some time so that we could show that the interest in our ambitious project is well-deserved. We’re happy, we did a great job, and Flying Nikka’s performance today was incredible, we are truly very, very happy. I want to thank all the team for the great work that was done to arrive here in Porto Cervo with a perfect boat. We really enjoyed it, the first race on Flying Nikka was an exhilarating one.”
